Maine Angels is seeking a dependable professional to support our growing network of investors and entrepreneurs.

Administrator

Primary responsibilities

Network management and investor relations

  • Member onboarding and engagement: You'll manage the process for recruiting, onboarding, and engaging with accredited investors to grow our network.

  • Communications: Be the go-to person for the network, providing timely and friendly communication to our members.

  • Events: Plan and manage exciting investor events, including monthly meetings for startups to pitch, social gatherings, and educational activities.

  • Platform management: Keep our member platform and investment application system running smoothly.

  • Compliance: Make sure all network activities follow laws and regulations, while protecting confidential company and investor information.

Deal flow and screening

  • Screening: Help with the preliminary screening and analysis of potential companies to evaluate their market potential, team expertise, and financial viability.

  • Facilitation: Coordinate the investment process from initial screening to due diligence and final deal closing.

  • Deal execution: Assist with deal execution as directed by participating angels and be the point of contact with third-party providers for Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).

Reporting and analysis

  • Portfolio tracking: Track the performance metrics of portfolio companies and provide regular updates to network leadership.

  • Performance reporting: Prepare reports for leadership, including deal flow updates, and gather data to analyze the group's investment impact.

  • Financial administration: Support the formation and administration of SPVs and help with general financial and reporting needs.

Key qualifications and skills

  • Experience: You've got prior experience in venture capital, startup incubation, or angel network management.

  • Industry knowledge: You understand the startup and investment environment, including business formation, market analysis, and due diligence processes.

  • Communication: You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills to connect effectively with investors, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders.

  • Management skills: You're organized, great at planning, and can manage projects while multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

  • Technical proficiency: You’re skilled with technology platforms for investment applications, communication, and data management.

  • Networking: You either have a pre-existing network of investors and entrepreneurs or can build and maintain one, which is super valuable.

  • Education: While not always necessary, advanced degrees like a Master's or MBA are sometimes preferred.

Location

You'll primarily be in Southern Maine, with some limited travel around the state. In-person meetings will be held at the Roux Institute in Portland.

Compensation

Compensation will match your experience. This position can be part-time or a contractor role. We'll provide training, and you can expect a commitment of about 15-20 hours per week.
