Ayres Stockly, Treasurer

Ayres has been a member of the Maine Angels since 2013, and has invested in a number of startups. He was elected Treasurer in 2014, and re-elected in 2016.

Ayres is a business partner in Apex Racket & Fitness in Portland, and also an investor in commercial real estate and the stock market. He is also a partner in a small local food startup that makes veggie burgers.


Conrad Kozak, Secretary

Conrad has been a member of Maine Angels since 2013, and was elected to serve as Secretary in 2016. Conrad is open to investing in a variety of industries as evidenced by his angel portfolio that includes fields as diverse as educational technology, manufacturing, medical technology and business services.

Conrad shares with Maine Angels exceptional financial experience, based in part on his 36 year tenure at J.P. Morgan. As a former CEO of Investor Services and Vice Chairman of the Corporate and Investment Bank at J.P. Morgan, Conrad was heavily involved in transaction banking and corporate development until his retirement in 2014.

Born in England, Conrad has resided in the U.S. since 1983. He enjoys living in both New Jersey and Maine.


Sam Fratoni, Chair

Sam is an active investor in several startups and has been a member of Maine Angles since April 2013. He helped lead the prior Maine Angles leadership team through a strategic planning exercise and was elected Chair in October of 2015. Sam is a technical advisor for GoodLux Technologies, a portfolio company.

Sam is a business executive with over 30 years of global, technical corporate leadership, focused on helping organizations apply technology to real customer needs to produce results for the company and employees. He led business units, international regions and global business functions for Hewlett Packard Company and as Corporate Vice President for IDEXX Laboratories. Sam is a PhD chemist by training with many years of instrument, diagnostics, and systems development experience.

Sam is very involved in leadership, education, and entrepreneurial development activities based on the application of large corporation best practices scaled and aligned with small company needs and resources. He is a board member and mentor for the Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development. He is currently Envision Maine Board Chair and remains a member of the Breakwater School Board of Trustees after serving as board president for five years.



Catherine York Powers, Vice Chair

A native of Presque Isle, Catherine has been a member of Maine Angels since 2013. She is an investor in clean energy, innovative food, and commercial real estate.

An entrepreneur at heart, Catherine led many initiatives in early stage and mature companies before founding two companies herself.  Catherine's 18 years of P&L management experience includes time focused on sales and marketing as well as capital formation, financial structuring, and M & A.

Catherine previously managed the global M&A division at SunEdison. Joining SunEdison in its early days, Catherine contributed to the company's growth, its acquisition and beyond.

Catherine currently serves as Managing Director and CEO of Constant Energy Capital.
